Inspired by historic city signage in the city of Milan, these typefaces were created as a personal type exploration after a study abroad trip through Italy. Each font is derived from a different sign in the city. Componibile, Italian for modular, is a modular typeface which was expanded from a dry cleaner’s shop sign. Casa Italia was inspired by fascist lettering on a column at the entrance to the Casa della Fontana. Acquario Nouveau was extracted from the signage on the Acquario Civico (Milan Aquarium), a building constructed during the Art Nouveau period.
